Sustainability Consulting, Commissioning, Energy Audits and LEED is Susann’s focus with her professional experience in design, construction, property management, and real estate investment. She has been working on LEED projects in almost every category for the last 11 years. Susann was the project lead for the first LEED CS Platinum building under version 2009, An den Bruecken located in Munich Germany. That project also won the esteemed Real Estate Manager Award for Sustainability in 2011. In addition, she also managed the LEED Certification for The Square, a 1.7 million square feet mixed use building at the Frankfurt airport. It is Germany’s largest office building housing also two hotels and retail and just won the MIPM Award for best office development. As an Expert on LEEDUser, she lends her expertise to other LEED professionals. Most recently, Susann led the energy modeling efforts for The Circle, a 2M sf mixed-use facility at the Zurich airport, identifying opportunities to reduce total energy consumption by 30%.
Sophia has a background in electrical engineering and spends the majority of her time building energy models and reviewing LEED certification documentation. As a project engineer, she has worked with new construction and existing buildings to develop energy models for residential, commercial, healthcare, retail and industrial buildings. Through her knowledge of engineering she is able to understand and create energy models to examine building envelopes, power consumption, and heating and cooling systems.
Prior to her work with EBE, Sophia gained experience with industrial automation, working with control panels and system sizing. Sophia joined EBE as an intern the summer of 2017 and became a full-time employee upon graduating Case Western Reserve University in May 2018.
Abby has over five years’ experience in the sustainability field. She has experience working with teams through the design and construction phases of LEED certification, ensuring credit requirements and goals are met. Abby has worked on K-12, institutional, mixed-use residential, core and shell, hospitality, healthcare as well as Federal, state, and local government LEED projects. She has also held positions as a general sustainability consultant with clients including the D.C. Department of Energy & Environment, the Architect of the Capital and Goodwill Industries and has worked for American University’s Office of Planning and Project Management on LEED projects.
Abby joined EBE in April 2018 after relocating to the Northeast Ohio Area.
Mr. Setzekorn has seventeen years’ experience in the construction, design/engineering and commissioning of mechanical and plumbing systems that include central systems, geo-thermal, and stand-alone systems. He has held positions as Senior Project Engineer, Director of Commissioning, as well as President of the Energy and Engineering group of a fortune 5000 Company. Mr. Setzekorn has experience in all phases of construction and engineering that include system analysis and design, preparation of construction documents and specifications, field supervision, construction administration. He is a commissioning authority experienced in fundamental, enhanced, and building envelope commissioning activities, including retro-commissioning for a wide range of new and renovation projects types including commercial, healthcare, retail, educational, institutional, hospitality, and industrial.
Dwayne Petko, BPI, HERS rater
Trained in building science principles, Dwayne Petko used his knowledge first in existing residential homes, conducting energy audits for the local electric and gas utility customers; demonstrating to the homeowner how to make their own homes more comfortable and efficient. Learning the value of partnering with many top quality contractors, proved invaluable in helping homeowners select trusted companies to help make the best home improvement decisions. Dwayne has proven to help homeowners find the solutions necessary through education and consultation. With the EBE team, Dwayne is on-site with our residential builders assisting them with high-performance construction methodologies and conducting the testing and verification required for certifications.
Ms. Steinbrink has over ten years of experience leading project teams to discover and implement sustainability goals in business and the built environment. She grew Emerald Built Environments over that time to an internationally-sought after partner to owners and their architects and project teams. Ms. Steinbrink excels at facilitating eco-charrettes and strategy sessions that align the owner’s business and financial objectives with their renovation and new construction projects thereby establishing clear goals and strategies for project delivery. Her experience spans heavy industry to retail, housing, commercial, education, medical facilities and roads and bridges.
Jane Wise has been working with Emerald Built Environments since 2012 as office manager. In her role, she supports the team with administrative tasks, marketing and invoicing.
